性质描述: 白色结晶性粉末。熔点237-238℃（分解）。微溶于水、乙醇，溶于热乙醇，不溶于丙酮、氯仿，无臭，无味。
生产方法: 有多种工艺路线。其中之一是以邻甲苯胺为原料，首先溴化生成2，4-二溴-6-甲苯胺，与乙酐反应使氨基乙酰化，生成N，N-二乙酰基-2，4-二溴-6甲基苯胺；使氨基得以保护，然后再一次溴化生成N，N-二乙酰基-2，4-二溴-6-溴甲基苯胺；与N-甲基环己胺缩合到N，N-二乙酰基-2，4-二溴-6-（N-甲基）环己胺甲基苯胺。最后用盐酸水解去乙酰基并成盐得成品。
用途: 本品系根据药用植物鸭嘴花中所提出的有效成分（番爵床碱）的结构而合成的新型粘液溶解性祛痰剂，有较强的溶解粘痰的作用。能使痰中的粘多糖纤维分化和裂解，也可抑制粘多糖的合成，使痰中唾液酸（酸性粘多糖成分之一）含量减少，从而降低痰的粘度，口服后尚有恶心性祛痰作用，使痰液易于咳出，使呼吸道畅通。临床上用于急慢性支气管炎、哮喘、支气管扩张、肺气肿的治疗，尤其适用于白色粘痰咳出的困难者，及因痰液广泛阻塞小支气管引起的气急等症。不良反应：服用本品偶有恶心、胃部不适，减量或停药后可消失。少数病人血清转氨酶暂有升高。胃溃疡病人应慎用。本品毒性很小。
