性质描述: 白色结晶性粉末。熔点70.5-71℃。能溶于乙醇、丙酮、氯仿、乙醚，微溶于石油醚，不溶于水。
生产方法: 将甘油与丙酮缩合生成1,2-异丙叉甘油醚，再与十八醇-对-甲苯磺酸酯进行醚化，得1,2-异丙叉-3-十八烷基甘油醚，最后经水解生成鲨肝醇。其他生产方法有从鲨鱼鱼肝油中分离等方法。鲨肝醇的双对硝基苯甲酸酯C35H50N2O9是淡黄色的针状结晶（甲醇中结晶），熔点65-66℃，63℃即开始软化。
用途: 该品是促进白细胞增生增生的常用药物之一。人的造血系统中含鲨肝醇较多，可能是体内的一种造血因子，具有增加粒细胞数量的作用，此外还有抗放射作用，能防治白细胞减少，临床用于因用抗肿瘤药及放射治疗而引起的白细胞减少，也可用于小儿粒细胞缺乏症。该品在治疗期间应每周检查白细胞数。
